The King Condemned

In our last chapter, we saw Jesus betrayed and denied and then set on trial… first before the Jewish Sanhedrin and then brought before the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate. The charge against Him is that He claims to be a king… a charge which He openly acknowledges before Pilate. But His kingdom, Jesus states, is not of this world. It rises above and beyond the earthly kingdoms of the Jews and Rome, or the United States of America in both space and time… without borders and for all eternity.


Now, in ch. 19 we see man’s response to this declaration of a king as the crowd cries for blood and the governor reluctantly takes their side against an innocent man. In this morning’s passage, we read of A King Condemned as we see the people’s…
