"Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Life is a battlefield! Satan, our adversary, opposes us and our own flesh wars against us. In every sphere of our lives... family, ministry, vocation, friendships, and more... we face a fight for righteousness and the will of God. We need to be armed and equipped, our hearts and minds trained for war. Yet, the good news is that the battle is already won, our victory secured by our Lord and King Jesus Christ.
“Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear;
for the battle is the Lord’s..." (1 Samuel 17:47 )
That doesn't mean the battle will be easy or that we won't have to fight. It does mean, however, that as long as we stay close to Him and live in the power of the Spirit He's given us, He will lead us to victory!

Our Teaching Pastors
Ray Carter
The Lord Jesus saved Ray and Leisa in 1990 and 1989, respectively. After growing up in Southern California and then moving to Lake Havasu, God opened the doors for Ray to begin sharing God’s Word with a small handful of families in Lake Havasu 30 years ago. Today, Redemption Hill Calvary Chapel continues meeting together and enjoying the same characteristics as the early church. The Carters have been blessed with 43 years of marriage, five children, 12 grandchildren, and a fellowship of loving saints whom the Lord continues to add to.
Dean Ceccarelli
Pastor Dean was first introduced to Calvary Chapel while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, in 1986. After returning home, he began attending Calvary Chapel North Phoenix. In 2000, God led Dean and his wife, Jennifer, to move to Holbrook, AZ, to assist the pastor there. In 2003, he became the senior pastor of the Holbrook fellowship.
Mike Kern
Pastor Mike grew up in a Christian home outside the Calvary Chapel family and began pastoring in 1997 at a church plant in Sacramento, CA. After returning to Arizona in 2004 with his wife, Melissa, they came to Calvary Chapel Desert Light in Bullhead City, where he served for 13 years as assistant pastor before stepping into the senior pastor role in 2023.
Joonho Kim
Greg McGrew
Pastor Joonho “JK” Kim was saved by the Lord Jesus in 1987. The Lord told him to start Calvary Chapel of Sahuarita in 2001.
Greg McGrew is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Arise in Arizona. He has a heart for teaching the Bible in a practical, straightforward way that helps people know Jesus more deeply and live out their faith with conviction, grace, and discernment.
His teaching often focuses on the intersection of biblical truth and everyday life, encouraging men to become faithful husbands, fathers, leaders, and servants who are willing to follow Christ wherever He leads.
Greg and his wife, Courtney, serve together in ministry and have a deep desire to see people grow in genuine relationship with Jesus rather than simply going through the motions of religion.
